Is it possible to truly embody a text?
We will ask and aim to answer this question in our next workshop, "Text in Movement". The workshop will take place on Saturday, February 12, and Sunday, February 13, 2011, 10am - 4pm.
Workshop instructor: Shannon Sullivan.
"
Text in Movement" offers you an in depth encounter with the physicality of language.
Language is not only words with meanings; language is sound, texture, rhythm, melody and movement.
Language is movement of the mouth, movement of the vocal chords, movement of the breath.
In this workshop you will learn to:
* organically connect language and movement
* create an intricate rhythmic relationship between movement and text
* increase the impact of both your movement and your words by systematically applying contrast or congruency
In the training we will work with improvisation, movement, voice and text.
Participation: The course is open to writers, dancers, actors, musicians, and all who are intrigued by this topic.
