We invited women artists of all disciplines to apply for participation in the festival SWAN Day Berlin 2009.
We were looking for short pieces from dance, theater, music, performance art, spoken word, interdisciplinary, etc. Each piece was to be up to a maximum of ten minutes long; excerpts of longer works also accepted. In order to be eligible, the driving creative force behind the work submitted (the choreographer, director, playwright, composer, etc.) had to be a woman**.
Filmmakers and visual artists were also invited to submit their work for SWAN Day Berlin 2009.
More than 200 women artists of all disciplines applied for participation in the festival- more than twice as much as for -> SWAN Day Berlin 2008.
We would like to thank all applicants for submitting their work.
The application deadline was October 15, 2008, and we do not accept late submissions. However, we'd be happy to keep you informed about upcoming calls for submissions; please subscribe to our -> newsletter.
We will notify all applicants of the status of their application by email by December 1, 2008. Please be patient and do not enquire about the statuts of your application before this date. Thank you.
** Together with the Fund for Women Artists we define "woman" as a person born as a woman or a transgender person living and identifying as a woman.
