Performance Lab Berlin is a multidisciplinary performance project, based in Berlin, Germany. It was founded in 2006 by choreographer/ dancer -> Shannon Sullivan and writer/ performer -> Joey Juschka.
Performance Lab Berlin creates its own -> productions as well as curating and presenting the annual festival -> SWAN Day Berlin, Support Women Artists Now Day. In addition, we offer regular -> workshops in Improvisation & Physical Theater.
As the word "Lab" suggests, the focus is on experimentation and the discovery of unusual combinations with powerful effects. We value openness, communication and the process of creation, not just the final product.
Performance Lab Berlin stands for an innovative concept for making dance and theater. Our approach melts the boundaries between dance, theater and music and places the focus on the further development of the participating artists. We promote exchange and mutual inspiration between the art forms and the invention of new means of expression.
In the first year of its existence Performance Lab Berlin has presented three productions which were created using its characteristic "Lab - Process" -> archive
In 2008 we presented the festival -> SWANÂ Day Berlin 2008, as part of the internationally held Support Women Artists Now Day.
For 2009 we're planning to present our next production, -> Broken: Parts I and II, as well as the festival -> SWAN Day Berlin 2009.
